Car insurance 17/Female for under £1000?

DoritoOnHead asked:

I am looking for recommendation/advice on an insurer that would offer the best policy for a 17 year old female,

I have already visited price comparison and my cheapest quote was around £140, i was quoted for a small engine car (1.0 litre) 3 doors

is this really the cheapest premium there is for 17 year old’s i know that, that age group is the highest risk

but has any one else in same situation got a cheaper policy than that?

any help you may have would be very much appreciated

Safe to buy Insurance over the phone ?

Joe asked:

I need car insurance , is it safe to give my credit card information over the phone ?

What would they ask for ? Just the card number ? Will they want the expiration date and 3 digit code on the back ?

Do they need my SSN number ?

I know they will need an address , phone number and drivers license number.

The people that answer (I have called 6 places for a quote) seem like the type you do not feel safe giving all this information too.

Will the insurance cover multiple car damage?

Lloyd asked:

Well the other day my new car was hit on the passenger side while i was in a mall, and i didnt know till i got back to my car. I was quoted $1300 for a dent/scrapes that was located near the bottom edge closest to the rear wheel @ a body shop thats well known to be good. It looked pretty bad but later that night i decided to take out my buffer and used multiple car products and got most of the paint from the other vechicle off of my car and the only thing that remains is the dent and couple of scrapes. The Damage does not look as bad its still noticable and it is a new car.

My question is..

1) When the insurance adjuster come will he lower the estimated cost just because it now doesnt look as bad as it did sinced i cleaned the paint off?

2) what if he gives me a estimate less then $1300?

3) There is also a small (size of a golfball) dent on the front bumper and 1 on the edge of the hood where you hold to lift it. Will the insurance cover that as well since the deductible is $500
oh and the front bump was from my mom hitting a table that was in the garage because i had it on 1st gear when she turned it on

I’m a Florida 220 General Lines Licensed Agent.

I’m seeking to offer a simpler way of shopping for auto insurance by providing the cheapest auto insurance quotes from top 15 insurance companies to consumers via my website.

The completion of the application will take less than five minutes. We will match the consumers application to all affiliated insurance companies. Then our system will show the lowest rates out of those fifteen for you. After you compare car insurance rates you will be given the option to purchase a low cost policy online.

I would like to get set up with the following insurance companies: Progressive, GEICO, AIG, Arrowhead, Electric, Encompass, Esurance, The Hartford, Liberty Mutual, MetLife, Permanent General, Safeco, Travelers, and Unitrin.

By comparing rates from a broad list of companies we’ll improve the consumers chances of purchasing the cheapest insurance.

I’ll be flying in to a popular beach location. Some of the insurance quotes are more than the cost of the rental itself.

Best low-insurance car for new driver (UK)?

Matt asked:

I’m looking to get my first car fairly soon. I’m still learning to drive and I would probably get the car and insurance before I take my test… on this topic I’ve noticed its cheaper for insurance on a provisional license than on a full but new license, but does this mean that once I get my full license my insurance will go up!? I understand that new drivers can be complacent and whatever, but this still doesn’t make much sense to me.

Anyway, back to the question…
I’m quite tall (6″4′ ish, maybe a bit more) so I’m looking for something with a bit more room in it. I can’t really fit in a Peugeot 205 and my sister’s Yaris is also a bit of a squeeze.

I’ve been looking at Vauxhall Astra’s (2006ish) which fall just within budget and seem quite nice, but the 1.7l engine model (which is what all the ones for sale seem to be) is an insurance group 6.

Am I likely to find anything a similar size in a lower insurance group or am I wanting too much?

I’m not bothered by engine size and I suspect a 1.4l or 1.2l would fall into a lower insurance category. Problem is I can’t find any similar cars with anything less than around a 1.6l.

My budget for the car is around £4000. Not bothered much by high mileage cars.

In terms of budget for the insurance, its whatever works out as cheapest. For the 1.7 Astra I was getting quotes of around £3200 which is quite frankly ridiculous – I could buy another car for that!

So basically, if anyone has any suggestions for hatchbacks that would be cheaper to insure, please send them my way!

Thanks

Sorry for my use of generalizations, but its no big secret.
reputable: American Family, State Farm, Farmers etc
“cheap”: progressive, geico, etc.
why are my quotes 3 times higher for the reputable, is it worth the drastic rate increase?

Hello

My car insurance company invalidated my policy 2 weeks after issuing me it, claiming that i had lied about the date i had my license since. They say that i had told them that i’ve had it since jan rather than march. This is not the case, i had given them the right details (that i had passed in march) and they had taken the information down knowing this and issued the policy to me.

I got a phone call after they got a copy of my drivers license by a staff member saying that i had lied, i had to have held my license for longer (243 days) and that the policy is to be invalidated. They quoted me a new price (which was £700 more expensive).

I was understandably angry, not having done anything wrong and to have my policy cancelled like that. I argued that they knew i had my license since march (i confirmed this atleast twice b4 purchasing the policy). It even states on the statement of insurance that i’ve ive had my license since march :s . They issued the policy to me knowing this. They now want the statement of insurance back immediately.

I’m sure that they can’t issue me a policy at a set price (i have the reciepts and the statement of insurance stating i have had my license since mar- 6 mnths) and then cancel it like this.

Some advice regarding my legal position would be appreciated.

I am 21 years old and my driving record has been flawless since I was 16. A member of my household has had a speeding tick, running a red light, totaled 2 cars and got a Dui in the past 5 years. When I give this information to the insurance co. my quote for a new truck I want go from 1600-2000/yr to 4000-6000/yr. What is the point of being a good driver if someone else ruins it for you?
