Car Insuurance on the web?

gsindia2904 asked:

I used a web site called Iselect when I purchased my private health insurance. The web site is one where you puunch in all your details and tells you who has the cheapest quote. Does one exist for car insurance? I need the quote for a car in Melbourne Australia.

Car insurance bait and switch?

MK’s asked:

I admit I have a not so favorable driving record. The company I was with had elected to discontinue my coverage, leaving me to shop around. After calling every company I could think of, I got all extremely high, but understandable quotes. My last call was to a “insurance broker”. I know not the best route, but left with no other choice. The company got me a quote. . After I signed all paperwork and agreed to the deductions, I called the company just to verify all the information. All was said and fine. A week later they call to tell me the premium was significantly increased due to my record. While I understand, can they really tell me one thing first, have me agree and sign, then change it up like that? I had specifically asked if my record was already pulled and all my info was correct and they said yes.

How do I lower my car insurance?

gabyrig asked:

I have a 2001 Toyota Rav4L with 65K miles on it and paid for. The Kelly Blue Book value gives me an average estimated value of $9,000. My insurance now with Liberty Mutual is $113/month. So a little over $1,300/year. I called last time to get a lower rate but they convinced me that this is the minimum I should stay with and lowered it from $150 by increasing my deductible.
I put my specifics in progressive and quote-net and ended up with half the rate for nearly exactly the same conditions that liberty is offering me. I plan to take public transportation more and park the car. I just want to be able to legally drive it to get somewhere in case of emergency and be covered if the car is hit. What would you suggest?

In January i was parking my moped, and apparntly i went through a no entry sign. I then got 3 points on my licence and a £60 fine. This was harsh as i did not see any sign and wouldn’t of minded paying the £60 fine but to get punnished again and having 3 points put on my provisional for 2-3 years was a bit harsh. Especially when i see people on tv getting pulled over by the police for not wearing a seat belt and getting away with it.. Any way to my question. I have passed my driving test and have my full licence. Would the 3 points carry on to my driving license and would this dramatically affect my car insurance? Also what offence would this cover under convictions if trying to get a quote? I could not find the going through no entry? Thank you very much if you reply

Hi,
My friend is 17 in a few months and is looking at buying her first car.
To decide which is most suitable insurance wise, she has been on various comparative websites, confused.com for example.

She was putting in fake details so it made her 17 with a provisional license.
She told an older friend about what she was doing and he said it was actually illegal to enter fake details.

I don’t think it is illegal, after all – you could buy a 1.6l car and not realise how expensive the insurance will be, when you go to insure it – you’re left with a £500 car that’ll cost £3000 to insure.

So, is it illegal?

(Note: She isn’t using anyone inparticular details and all she does it for is to get a rough guide as to how much a Ka, Corsa, Clio, etc will cost to insure for the year.)

Sorry that was long, and thanks.
THIS IS UK ONLY, PLEASE!
Nope, she doesn’t buy it.
She waits for the quote to come up, jots it down and closes the window.
Then she’ll do it again for another make + model of a car she’s interested in.

How high do car insurance rates vary?

Peter S asked:

For example, is there that much of a monthly price differential between a 2004 4-Door Compact Toyota Corolla and a Ferrari? Are we talking hundreds more or perhaps $15 or so?

I ask, because I’m selling my ’03 Honda Civic LX and am thinking about getting an ’00 Toyota Celica GT-S. I’m currently paying about $80 a month for the Civic. Without telling me to go get a quote (I’m on my father’s plan, so I simply don’t have all the information that’s required), can you ballpark how much more it would cost? The Civic is considered a family car, but the Celica is somewhat of a sporty car due to the GT-S and 6-Speed Turbo. And it’s also a two-door. Also, are the rumors true that if a car is red or any other color that’s usually related to racing, prices go up as well? The car I’m looking at is black.

I’m 19 years old, but again, I’m on my father’s insurance and he’s been driving a while, hence why my current monthly payment is so low.
Oh, and I live in Oregon.

Basically i got a quote from admiral for about £600 for fully comp insurance on a 900cc fiat, would I then be able to drive someone elses car? As this would work out a heck of a lot cheaper than actually insuring me on the other car [3k cheaper to be exact]
