. asked: Hi,
My friend is 17 in a few months and is looking at buying her first car.
To decide which is most suitable insurance wise, she has been on various comparative websites, confused.com for example.
She was putting in fake details so it made her 17 with a provisional license.
She told an older friend about what she was doing and he said it was actually illegal to enter fake details.
I don’t think it is illegal, after all – you could buy a 1.6l car and not realise how expensive the insurance will be, when you go to insure it – you’re left with a £500 car that’ll cost £3000 to insure.
So, is it illegal?
(Note: She isn’t using anyone inparticular details and all she does it for is to get a rough guide as to how much a Ka, Corsa, Clio, etc will cost to insure for the year.)
Sorry that was long, and thanks.
THIS IS UK ONLY, PLEASE!
Nope, she doesn’t buy it.
She waits for the quote to come up, jots it down and closes the window.
Then she’ll do it again for another make + model of a car she’s interested in.
