Car insurance broker or direct to insurance company?

jay D asked:

I’m about to get a car, and i’m thinking about car insurance. The thing is, I don’t know whether should i go to an insurance broker, or just shop around doing all these web quotes and find the cheapest out there and call them directly. Should i just do this or should i contact an insurance broker? What are the pros and cons of dealing w/ insurance broker? thanks

Car Insurance 19 years old question?

Deus Legend asked:

I am planning on buying a car soon. I am 19 years old and I live with my parents. If the car is in my name, can the insurance be put in my parents name to make it cheaper? If not, what other options do I have? I’ve did some researching on quotes and I will have to pay like over $2000 every 6 months if its in my name but WAY less if its in theirs. All answers are appreciated.

Why is Erie car insurance so cheap?

Ay Yo Crystal asked:

Just got my license and on any other site i did a quote for with me on my dad’s car insurance it was between $3-4K a year and on Erie it will be $1300.
Why?
Are they a good insurer?

I snapped a coil spring on the front shock absorber of my car as a result of crashing into a speed ramp and the car is no longer drivable. I tried to do the job myself but was unable to do it. I have now made an insurance claim and the insurance companies recommended garage gave me a quote to replace both front shock absorbers which is quite expensive. My no-claims bonus is protected. Since making the insurance claim, I have found a garage that said he could finish the job I started at a reasonable price.I am now thinking I would like to cancel the claim end get my car back unrepaired. Is this advisable and would my insurance premium still be affected at renewal time. Also, as my car wasn’t drivable after the accident and the garage had to collect it from my house and will have to bring it back.

I am a 16 year old male who has taken driver’s ed and gets good grades. I am going to be added to my parents insurance. About how much on average will it cost me per month? Please give me a guesstimate, and I do not want to go to sites for quotes. Thanks

I am really worried now as I simply cannot afford the lowest quote of £1600 all in one go. My car is a citroen ax 1.0 if that helps? Are there any other 17 year olds out there who do pay car insurance monthly if so how??

The car is convertible and most insurers are quoting around $1600 is this about right? It seems alot for a hard top?
