they will require proof of insurance before you take the car. your agent can fax them the proof.

The dealership offers you insurance when you are purchasing the car. So you will have to give the dealership the insurance money.

Depends on the state you live in I guess. I just bought a new car a month ago. I called Progressive and switched over the insurance from my old car to my new car. If you don’t have insurance, shop around and see if the ins. co. can save you a quote in their system. When you buy the car, call the ins. Co., tell them you want to purchase the policy, and the insurance company will have to fax over and insurance binder which lets the dealer know that the car is covered in case of an accident. I use to work w/ insurance and I have seen it w/ some companies where you are not covered until the next day, so make sure you’re covered BEFORE you drive off the lot!

Your insurance company can fax a binder to the dealership to show proof of insurance. Then you can drive the car off the lot to get a new insurance policy written
