In a situation when one hires a car and then commits a traffic offence, in many cases the police asks the rental company to provide driver details so they can charge a fine directly.

What information does the car rental company provide to the police? Is it just name and address of the driver or is it something else such as passport number or driving license details?

When I show her (the Judge) my insurance card and paper work from progressive stating that I’m insured with progressive untill DEC 3, 2009 will she actually look into it at that moment or just look at the documentation and dismiss the case?

I got pulled over three months ago and i didnt have my proof of insurance on me. I have to appear in court tomorrow to show that I had insurance on that night.
