I am learning to drive at the moment but I am not so sure about car insurance. I was getting some online quotes but they were all realllllllly expensive; a friend suggested my parents could get the insurance in their name and add me as a second driver to lower the insurance costs.
Would there be a problem if we did that?

if the vehicle is in your name you will need to be named insured, BUT if it is in THEIR name, it can go on their policy and they can list you as a driver.

As a minor they are tied to you financially anyway. You may as well be added to their policy, as an additional driver. Do not get behind the wheel even as a student until there is insurance in place. God forbid something happen and no insurance, you will pay by not being allowed to drive until 18 or worse!

If you live with your parents you wont have problems doing it. Try this site
here you can get quotes from different companies so you can find the best rates for you.

autoinsurance.undonet.com – check this one. As I remember they have lowest car insurance rates for teens and young drivers.
