Ay Yo Crystal asked:
Just got my license and on any other site i did a quote for with me on my dad’s car insurance it was between $3-4K a year and on Erie it will be $1300.
Why?
Are they a good insurer?

For car insurance you should be always comparing prices and features. For me I like a friendly agent that I can always call so thats why I always say to look around locally.

They’re cheap as they don’t spend money on advertising and only take “good” drivers.

I’ve been insured with Erie for almost 30 years, and they are a superb company. As the other answer said, they don’t advertise–those lizards and actors are expensive–they go only by word of mouth and referrals, and they are selective. You and your family must be very good drivers or you wouldn’t be with them.
Try their homeowners, too, if you haven’t.

They don’t do all the expensive commercials like Geico, Progressive, etc.
My aunt has had it for about 20 years and never had a problem and also she has a 2004 car with a lot of coverage and pays about $700 a year. I would say to go with them.

You just need to shop around more on sites, here is a site I used and worked fine for me on quotes from multiple companies.

autoinsurance.maclenet.com – try this one. I personally have their car insurance, cause it is the cheapest for me in our area.
